The model was first matured and validated with support from the Danida Green Business Partnerships (DGBP) programme, which refined the commercial architecture and confirmed the viability of women-led SaWa distribution. During this phase, 147 women sales agents were trained and onboarded, and over 7,500 SaWa units were sold to households, validating two sustainable business cases; to 4Life Solutions and to the sales agents.
The Approach
243 women were trained as SaWa sales agents under a social franchising model supported by the Bayer Women’s Economic Empowerment Grant.
Women earned commissions through peer-to-peer sales within their communities.

2. Medical Camps – A Community Health & WASH Intervention
In paralel, SaWa distribution was integrated into community medical camps, where safe water education was delivered alongside broader health and WASH services. These medical camps provide an opportunity to combine treatment, prevention, and behaviour change messaging in one setting; reinforcing the importance of safe water as a
foundation for health.
The Approach
SaWa units were distributed
through maternal health services and community medical camps across Kenya.
Health facilities served as trusted behaviour-change entry points.
